Author Guidelines for "Advancing Islamic Thought in Education Journal"

The "Advancing Islamic Thought in Education Journal" is committed to publishing high-quality, original research that explores the intersection of Islamic thought and education. To ensure a smooth submission process and maintain the quality of publications, authors are requested to adhere to the following guidelines when preparing and submitting their manuscripts.

1. Scope and Focus

  • Manuscripts should align with the journal’s focus and scope, which includes topics such as Islamic education systems, Islamic pedagogies, philosophies of Islamic education, curriculum development, Islamic values in education, educational leadership, and Islamic thought in contemporary educational settings.
  • Submissions that do not meet the thematic focus or relevance to Islamic education may be rejected without further review.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

  • Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original and have not been published previously or are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Manuscripts should not include plagiarized content. Proper attribution of sources is required. Authors should follow appropriate citation practices.
  • The journal uses plagiarism detection tools to ensure the integrity of the submissions.

3. Manuscript Types

The journal publishes the following types of manuscripts:

  • Research Articles: Original research that presents new findings, methodologies, or perspectives.
  • Theoretical Papers: Scholarly work that develops or critiques theoretical frameworks in the field of Islamic education.
  • Literature Reviews: Comprehensive reviews of the literature on specific topics within the field of Islamic education.
  • Case Studies: Detailed analysis of educational practices, policies, or systems within Islamic contexts.
  • Book Reviews: Reviews of books related to Islamic education, pedagogy, or related fields.

4. Manuscript Preparation

Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts according to the following formatting guidelines:

  • Text Formatting:

    • Manuscripts should be typed in Arial or Times New Roman, 12-point font.
    • Use 1.5 line spacing throughout the manuscript, including references.
    • Margins should be set to 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
    • Pages should be numbered consecutively.
  • Title Page:

    • The title should be concise, descriptive, and clearly reflect the content of the paper.
    • The title page should include:
      • Title of the manuscript.
      • Full name(s) of the author(s).
      • Affiliation(s) of the author(s).
      • Corresponding author’s contact information (email and postal address).
      • A brief abstract (150-250 words) summarizing the key objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions of the paper.
      • Keywords (4-6 terms related to the content of the manuscript).
  • Main Body of the Manuscript:

    • Abstract: Provide a concise summary of the study, highlighting its objectives, methodology, findings, and implications for the field of Islamic education.
    • Introduction: Clearly define the research problem, its significance, and the aim of the study. Provide an overview of the manuscript’s structure.
    • Literature Review: Review relevant existing studies, theories, and frameworks in the field of Islamic education. Identify gaps in the literature that the manuscript addresses.
    • Methodology: Describe the research design, data collection methods, and analysis techniques used. Ensure transparency and clarity in the description of the research process.
    • Results: Present the findings of the study in a clear and structured manner, using tables, figures, and charts if necessary.
    • Discussion and Conclusion: Discuss the significance of the findings, their implications for theory, practice, and policy in Islamic education, and offer suggestions for future research.
    • References: Provide a comprehensive list of references cited in the manuscript. All references must follow the APA style (7th edition).
  • Figures and Tables:

    • All figures and tables should be placed within the manuscript, not at the end.
    • Each figure/table should be numbered (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1) and have a brief descriptive title.
    • Ensure that all figures and tables are of high resolution and easy to read.
  • Footnotes: If necessary, use endnotes rather than footnotes for additional explanations or references.

5. Ethical Considerations

  • Authors must adhere to ethical guidelines for research, including obtaining informed consent from participants (if applicable), ensuring confidentiality, and properly acknowledging the contributions of others.
  • Authors must ensure that the manuscript does not involve any form of research misconduct, such as data fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism.
  • If the study involves human participants, authors must ensure that it complies with ethical standards for research involving human subjects. Ethical approval from a recognized ethics committee should be obtained if applicable.
  • All sources, including primary and secondary sources, should be properly cited, and permission should be obtained for any copyrighted material.

6. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system.
  • Upon submission, authors will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of the manuscript.
  • The journal follows a double-blind peer review process, so authors should remove any identifying information (such as author names, affiliations, and acknowledgements) from the manuscript to ensure anonymity.
  • Authors should indicate whether the manuscript has been previously presented at a conference or submitted to another journal.

7. Revisions

  • Authors may be required to revise their manuscript based on the feedback provided by the reviewers. If revisions are requested, authors must submit the revised manuscript within the specified timeframe.
  • Authors should include a response letter that outlines the changes made to address reviewers’ comments and suggestions.

8. Copyright and Licensing

  • Upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication, authors will be required to transfer copyright to the journal or agree to a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, allowing the manuscript to be freely distributed and reused, with proper attribution to the author.
  • Authors should ensure that all content (including images, tables, and figures) in the manuscript is either their own work or appropriately credited.

9. Publication Fees

  • There are no submission fees for manuscripts submitted to the journal.
  • However, authors may be required to pay publication fees if the manuscript is accepted for publication. These fees cover the costs of peer review, editing, and online publication. Detailed information about the fees will be provided upon acceptance.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
