The Role of Ecology in the World of Education: Concepts, Implementation, and Solutions to Environmental Problems in Shaping Students’ Environmental Awareness and Caring Character

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of ecology in education as a means of shaping students’ environmental awareness and character. The research focuses on ecological education concepts, their implementation in learning processes, and solutions to environmental problems within educational institutions. The method employed is library research by reviewing scholarly books, national and international journal articles, and relevant educational policy documents. The results indicate that integrating ecological values into education significantly enhances students’ environmental awareness, attitudes, and sustainable behaviors. Ecology-based education is also proven effective in fostering environmental responsibility through contextual and participatory learning approaches. Therefore, ecological education serves as a strategic solution to address global environmental crises through formal education systems
