Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the concept of tarbiyah in the thought of Hasan Al-Banna and to evaluate its implications for the development of modern Islamic education curricula. Hasan Al-Banna was a prominent Islamic reformer who emphasized the importance of education as a means to shape a holistic Muslim individual spiritually, intellectually, and socially. His concept of tarbiyah encompasses spiritual, moral, practical, and social consciousness dimensions in an integrated manner. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach and literature review of Al-Banna’s works and supporting literature, the study finds that tarbiyah, according to Al-Banna, is not merely focused on the transmission of knowledge but more on character formation and ideological awareness based on Islamic values. The implications of this thought for modern Islamic education curricula include the need to integrate spiritual values with academic competencies, emphasize character development, and recognize the teacher’s role as a murabbi (mentor and moral guide). The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of a more holistic and transformative Islamic education curriculum in the contemporary era
